In this episode of How I Met Your Mother we follow the group of new Yorkers on a trip to their jobs. We visit the environment of Marshall and Barney at their big-time corporate lawyer jobs where they sit behind desks and sign papers doing things of business. We follow Ted on to his professor job at the university along with his job as an architect. These are very good high paying jobs all given to male characters of the show. Women such as Lily and Robin work as a kindergarten schoolteacher and a news anchor. Although Robin’s job may be a well-paying job it does not have the same status that men in the business world are associated with. This show is under the male gaze and shows the characters categorized in stereotypical gender roles deemed appropriate and reinforced through media such as this show appropriate for men and women.
