Season 1 Episode 7
Summary:
A hurricane hits New York so Abbi has Ilana and her other friends Lincoln and Jaime come over. Her neighbor, Jeremy, stops by to see how everyone is doing and ends up staying for a while. Abbi has been into Jeremy for months, and Ilana thinks tonight is the night to make a move.
Masculine:
Assertive: Ilana says to Abbi, “You are wasting edge of death time. Make a move!”. Ilana wants Abbi to make the first move instead of waiting for Jeremy, which we don’t typically see in the media. They formulate a plan to play truth or dare in order to talk to Jerment, and Ilana dares Abbi to do something explicit to Jeremy. Ilana’s words reject several feminine stereotypes as she is assertive and aggressive.
Dominant: Abbi has a roommate who is dating a guy named Bevers. Abbi’s roommate is never there, but despite that, Bevers is always in the apartment. Games are being played in the living room, but Ilana goes into the roommates room to spite Bevers. She lays in the bed, farts on the nightstand, licks a mug, and pees in a plant. She does not like the fact that Bevers is always there and doesn’t pay rent, so this was a way to have a leg up on him. Once again, Ilana breaks stereotypes for women. She demonstrates that women can be gross, do weird things, and have hatred for someone of another gender.
