Final Takeaways:
11/11/11 was doomed from the beginning. The film is a spoof of a few other films, such as The Omen, and thus, was not expected to perform well. As predicted, 11/11/11 fell short on many fronts. Most characters were flat with little to no personality outside their specific roles, deaths fell short on the gore front, and the plot in its entirety was flat and overdone. There was little to like about this film.
Outside of its lack of appreciation, 11/11/11 can also be disliked for its tired representation of women in the film. Many of the most violent endings, for both women characters that die or are left ambiguous, were far more gruesome for those women than the men in the film. A larger percentage of female characters are killed as well. In conclusion, as 11/11/11 fails the Bechdel Test and when analyzed through the Sex Role perspective, 11/11/11 makes for a watch that falls short where it matters.
