While analyzing with the Sex Role Perspective, I will utilize the items for evaluating masculinity and femininity as presented by Hyde (1995, p. 134), and these specific items will be italicized. In this post, I will be discussing the music video for “She Don’t Know” by Millind Gaba.

Evaluating Masculinity
- Reinforcing stereotypes
- The two major male characters are presented as being ambitious, assertive, and dominant, as they drive in a red Porsche and walk down a red carpet in suits as paparazzi swarm them.
- The main male character is shown dancing and singing at night in front of bursts of fire. This portrays him as forceful and willing to take risks.
- The main male character’s bold outfit choices, like flashy suits and a leopard print fur coat, and his vehicle choices, such as a red Porsche, a helicopter, and a private jet, show that he has a very strong personality and is also somewhat individualistic.
- Resisting stereotypes
- The main male character is affectionate and warm towards the main female character, gently touching her face, kissing her hand, and singing to her.
- In one scene, the main male character is holding a little monkey that is dressed up in clothes. The way he holds the monkey is gentle, and, because the monkey almost appears like a little child, this scene shows him as loving children in a way by loving the child-like monkey.

- In the opening scene, the main female character is seen giving lollipops to a group of children. This directly reinforces the feminine stereotype of loving children.
- The female character’s overall demeanor is cheerful and warm, as she is often smiling and laughing.
- Resisting stereotypes
- The female character appears to be a reporter, as she, holding a microphone, pushes her way through the crowd of paparazzi in an attempt to interview the main male character. This scene portrays her as ambitious, assertive, and having a strong personality.
