Feminine:
- Jack shows concern for the baby that was left on the porch. He asks Mel what to do when he is helping to take care of the baby.
- Mel is taking initiative when there is a baby left at the door. She is trying to figure out what is best to do.
- Jack is singing to the baby which is a very feminine thing to do. This requires vulnerability.
- Connie is shown in an unflattering light in this scene because she is nosy and trying to make assumptions about whose baby was left on the front door.
Masculine:
- Jack is taking charge of getting diapers and formula for the baby. He is trying to help the situation and take charge of what he can.
- Doc tells Mel that he gets to call the shots when deciding what will happen with the baby and mentions that if she does not agree, she knows where the door is. He is establishing his dominance.
- Hope explains that she always tells Doc what to do. She is explaining to him what he should do regarding the baby that was left at the front door.
