Feminine:
- Mel is checking in on Jack because he is working but he needs to be careful because he just had surgery
- One of the women actors is very interested in the planning of the wedding.
- Muriel mentions to Doc that if he needs anything he should call her, this shows kindness and caring. However, she is also being sneaky because she knows that Doc is engaged.
- There are a lot of flashbacks to when Mel was pregnant which shows her desire for motherhood and the pain she still feels from losing her baby.
Masculine:
- Jack is taking charge of the party and is keeping the bar together.
- Todd is trying to show dominance in comparison to Jack. This can be seen through his physical appearance and statements.
- Jack is a true gentleman to Mel and even orders a masseuse for her birthday.
- Doc does not want anyone in the town to know that he might possibly go blind. This is a shot at his pride and his authority in the town. His main definition of himself is that he takes pride in his authority as the only doctor in town.
Manipulation:
- This can be seen through Muriel’s tactics to take a spin on why Hope is not with Doc during this scene.
- Charmaine is bragging by saying that her new fiancé is a lawyer.
- The women are always shown as being very nosy and spreading gossip.
