The next Justin Bieber song I will be analyzing is “Ghost” from his most recent album, Justice. This song was released in 2021. The theory I will be using to analyze this song is the sex-role perspective theory. The following lyrics are examples of stereotypical masculine and feminine traits.
“Youngblood thinks there’s always tomorrow
I miss your touch on nights when I’m hollow
I know you crossed a bridge that I can’t follow”
This is an example of the feminine touch. Bieber is stating that he misses a woman’s touch on some nights. This describes how a woman is tender and gentle, especially when the idea of touch is involved.
“Youngblood thinks there’s always tomorrow (woo)
I need more time but time can’t be borrowed
I’d leave it all behind if I could follow”
This is an example of masculine traits. Bieber is stating that he would leave everything behind if he could follow this woman. This describes the stereotypical masculine trait of ambition and willingness to take risks. Bieber is saying that if it was possible for him to follow this woman, he would leave everything he has earned behind, he is willing to risk his earnings to be with her.
