The episode begins with the “Animal Choice Awards” and BoJack having a flashback about how hank won and him and Mr. Peanutbutter were runner-ups. This comes into play when Diane and Bojack are going on a book tour, when suddenly someone brings up a question asking if the book would hurt BoJack’s reputation. She comes up with a response that claims that Hank has had allegations against him. Then the episode uses humor and exaggeration where suddenly her opinion is taken way out of proportion and gets out of hand. She tries to prove that all the people who think Hank is innocent are wrong. In the end the media likes Hank so much they refuse to believe Diane’s opinion. It just goes to show that the media has a powerful role and women sometimes don’t get as much say as they should.
The episode did fail the Bechdel Test. There were women who were referenced like Diane, Wanda, and Princess Carolyn. None of them had a conversation that was only with women, although there was some dialogue between two women. Most of the dialogue though was about Hank so it always was referencing some sort of man. This episode did a good job of recognizing gender equality and how they can sometimes be imbalanced, it is a shame it failed the Bechdel test.
