In episode seventeen of New Girl, it has many examples of gender stereotypes. In the beginning of the episode it starts off with parent teacher conferences and a students father shows dominance and assertiveness over Jesse which goes with typical gender stereotypes. He doesn’t listen to Jesse’s advice on his daughters school work and does not accept Jesse is the authority figure at this time. Jesse’s boss makes Jesse apologize to the father because he is the leading donor to the school and they need his money. This again shows the stereotype of men being above women and that men have the control. Schmidt then tells Jesse to apologize and blame it on her period. This is another stereotype of men assuming women are fragile and weak.
