This episode begins with Michael trying to select a new chair for the office, but is very quickly distracted by the model sitting in a chair in the catalogue. He points out her innocent eyes and her sexy smile. He also points out that she dresses very professionally, but he knows that there is another side to her. He then gets the whole office to open to the page that the chair model is on so that the workers can use the woman in the catalogue as a template for who they should set Michael up with. This is objectification and sexualization in gaze theory because he doesn’t even know this woman, he wants her for her looks and mystery. He also doesn’t want to date Philis’ friend because he is afraid that she is as large as Philis is. He then calls Wendy’s Restaurant because the description that Kevin gave on his index card being used to set Michael up was “hot and juicy redhead.” Later on, Michael learns that the chair model may actually be dead and he is absolutely heart broken, even though he has never met her. He then agrees to go out with the girl that Pam wants to set him up with because she is “hot.” These are the only prominent examples in this episode.
