In this episode of The Office, Michael meets the new HR rep that is replacing Toby. She is a very good looking, and Michael makes that very obvious throughout the episode. Michael utilizes Gaze theory by the way that he stares at her, Holly, near the end of the episode. in the beginning he looks at her with hate because of the fact that she is HR, but later he decides that he is in love with her. He also goes as far as to say that it is love at first see. He objectifies her in a sense by saying that he wants to “court her” in marriage, and he wants to make her his own. The way he looks at her and gazes off when he thinks/talks about her is perfectly in line with gaze theory. At the end of the day, this episode is a great example of Gaze theory in media.
