In this episode of The Office, objectification and sexualization examples are not nearly as prominent as they are in many of the other episodes in this series. There are some examples of objectification that arose through the episode, however.
objectification:
- Michael tells Pam to take notes on people’s character, not just their hotness (alluding to the fact that new manager should be attractive)
- Michael makes a “back of the bus” joke to Stanley (not sexual objectification, but objectification in a racist manner)
Unfortunately for this assignment, this episode was not a good example of gaze theory, nor is it full of good examples of objectification and sexualization.
