Gender representation:

  • This episode is about how the roommate Coach is leaving the loft and moving to New York. Jess enters his room to give him a farewell gift which is a cube that holds pictures of her, and Coach throws it into a box that says “definitely not taking”. Little did he know that when they leave the room together, Jess has a small event planned where she told the roommates to be involved too but they are sitting down not participating. Coach says, “this is not how men say goodbye” and proceeds back into his room, coach implies that women are sentimental and caring which is a stereotype of women.
  • In addition to stereotypes of compassion and tenderness traits in women, Jess says she is going to knit a scarf for Coach on the topic of him moving to New York where the winter season is often harsh.
