The FOX television series New Girl, specifically season 7, episode 1 titled About Three Years Later
Gender representation:
- The episode is about Nick and Jess coming back from their trip to Europe and the first thing they do since arriving is attend Schmidt and Cece’s daughter’s birthday party. Considering the party could be going better, Schmidt and Cece decide to offer alcoholic drinks to the parents. The part ends up getting out of hand because of a fight that breaks out. Winston’s wife Ally is pregnant with their child and wants people to treat her like she is not pregnant. At the party, Winston hits a guy that throws a punch at him. The guy gets up and attempts to throw a chair at him until Ally steps between them. She then yells, “stop treating me special” and then kicks the guy in the head which knocks him over. This would be considered a counterstereotype of women being the aggressive gender.
The Bechdel Test: Does not pass
- There are women that are named
- They do talk to each other
- They do not talk to each other about anything other than men
