The FOX television series New Girl, specifically season 7, episode 4 titled Where the Road Goes

Gender representation:

  • The episode is about Winston’s cat Ferguson. He passed away and the roommates have a funeral for him at a cemetery. At the bar that Nick used to partly own, they have a ceremony to honor Ferguson that Jess planned. This is a stereotype of women being supportive and nurturing. Coach is in town for the event since moving to New York and Nick is not getting along with him. Coach owes him money because he loaned $71,000 for his restaurant. Jess sees how they are being rude to each other, so she pulls them aside to try and get to the bottom of the situation. She even offers to pay the debt before she finds out the total. This is a stereotype of women being helpful and supportive as well.

The Bechdel Test: Does not pass

  1. There are women that are named
  2. There are women that talk to each other
  3. They do not talk to each other about anything other than men
