CHARACTERISTIC OF A COUNTRY SONG sung by a man
- Women
- Love
OVERVIEW
Sung by Lee Brice. This was a big song when it was released and even today still very popular. This song is about how the whole town knows or picks up on the relationship sprouting between the two. Yet, they have not officially come out as a couple. The lyrics to this song are sung by a man but it’s really meant for just her. For the lyrics, he is giving her the option to come out as a couple compared to only doing what he wants. I will be using the Sex-Role Theory to pick out the feminine characteristics of the song.
Femininity examples throughout the song
Sensitive to others’ needs
“I can do whatever you want me to do, baby” He is giving her the option. He doesn’t want to have a controlling relationship, and with this, he is letting lead the relationship.
Affectionate
“I feel it, don’t you feel it too?” He is very in love with her, but he doesn’t know how she feels right now. He is thinking that she feels the same but at the same time, it’s unsure.
Childlike
“Should we keep ‘em talking, girl; Or should we just make ‘em stop?” I can see this as a childlike characteristic because he is asking her if they want to keep this going or make it official. Almost as a game that they are playing.
