Stereotypical

Man’s Facial Expressions: Normally in movies, ads, and t.v. shows we see men wearing this grumpy, woe is me, straight line face. The same is true with this commercial we open with a delivery man who is walking down the street with packages with a grumpy look on his face doesn’t even smile toward the little girl. This is stereotypical of men to always look tough and not show any emotions.

Creativity in females: Females are normally seen to be more creative then males are. In this commercial this little girl came up with a creative way to make her delivery man smile when he delivers packages.

Caring for others: In this commercial we see the little girl want to bring a smile to the delivery man’s grumpy face. This is that traditional characteristic of females to care about everyone else. We see her make this hopscotch for the delivery man in an effort to cheer him up and make him smile. This idea of empathy and caring for others is stereotypical of females even when they don’t know the person personally.

Hopscotch and playing with chalk: Playing hopscotch is very characteristic of female girls. You snap to a scene of a playground and you will most likely see girls hoping down this drawn figure, while boys are usually playing other games. This drawing is super stereotypical of females and it is a game they learn girls play when growing up.

Non-stereotypical:

Hopscotch for men: In this commercial we do see the delivery man and other male figures using and playing hopscotch that this little girl drew. This is un-stereotypical for males given what I have already stated above.
