The media that I am analyzing is a random shuffle of my country playlist on my Apple Music. The first song that got selected was She Thinks my Tractor’s Sexy. If you just analyze the name, you can put femineity qualities to it such as affectionate. This song was released in 1999 by the country singer Kenny Chesney. If this song was sung by a woman, it would have not been as popular or well know as it is today. Applying the Sex-Role Theory to the lyrics of this song we can great examples.
The femininity traits that are brought up through the lyrics are a reason that the song got the buzz that it needed. The feminine stereotypes that are present throughout the lyrics of this song include are for sure affectionate and compassion. In the lyrics, “With a basket full of chicken, and a big cold jug of sweet tea.” You can see that he paints a picture of her to be compassionate and makes sure that he is being fed and hydrated. Another example of femininity in the lyrics is when he says, “She says she’s got a dream and I ask what it is, she wants a little farm and a yard full of kids.” This is demonstrating her love for children and wanting a family.
