CHARACTERISTIC OF A COUNTRY SONG sung by a woman

  • Women
  • Heartbreaking/ Love

OVERVIEW

Sung by Taylor Swift, also known Tswift. This song is sending the message that the boy she loves is with the wrong girl and that she can prove to him that she is better for him. As a women sing this it is different from your stereotypical female country song. As it could be seen as being very assertive, which is a masculinity trait. Using the Sex-Role Theory, I can analyze all the femininity traits throughout the song.

Femininity examples throughout the song

Childlike

“Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find; That what you’re looking for has been here the whole time” Dreaming about what she wants to happen instead of reality. Very feminine in the way of fairytales and dreams.

Feminine & Not susceptible to flattery

“But she wears short skirts, I wear T-shirt; She Cheer Captain and I’m on the bleachers” Describing your stereotypical teenager girl well also talking down on herself and what she does. She is in the bleachers saying that she is not as pretty or cool as her.

Cheerful

“I’m the one who makes you laugh; When you know you’re ‘bout to cry” She is always there for him when he is crying, and she knows how to make him smile. Which is a very common feminine trait for females to have and too comfy a person is very stereotypical.
