In the song “Thinking ‘Bout You” by Dustin Lynch and Lauren Alaina there are many stereotypes about what men and women are supposed to do, these are seen in his lyrics.
Hadn’t seen her since her weddin’ day / With you on my arm
- These lyrics suggest that men and women are supposed to have dates to weddings and they are supposed to follow the norms and traditions and be chivalrous, “with you on my arm.” Men are supposed to be chivalrous, and strong for the women and treat them in a very specific way. Such as being kind and going above and beyond.
Don’t be sorry for callin’ me up out of the blue / I was just thinkin’ ’bout you
- Within these lyrics Dustin Lynch is singing about how the girl, or another singer Lauren Alaina shouldn’t be upset for calling him first, because stereotypically the girls are not supposed to call the guy first, the guys are stereotypically supposed to call or interact first.
I was just thinkin’ ’bout you / Hey, I just gotta say I heard your song the other day / And it put a smile on my face when I started reminiscing / I’ve been on the edge of callin’ you / And I’m so glad I decided to
- Lauren Alaina then sings about how she reminisces about the old times. Which girls stereotypically do.
