The fourteenth female artist I will be looking at is Doja Cat. She is known for her Hip Hop and Pop music. Her number one song on Spotify is Kiss Me More featuring SZA.

Stereotypes

In the beginning of the music video, a man is seen wearing an astronaut uniform. He is seen walking around an unusual planet and becomes mesmerized by Doja Cat and SZA. Doja and SZA are seen wearing skin tight clothing and dancing sexually with each other. They are then seen sexually dancing with each other on a bed while the man is watching them. This goes along with the male gaze and objectification.

Later on, SZA is seen only wearing flowers which cover like a bikini would. Her legs and torso are zoomed in on as she slides her hands over her body. This also goes with the stereotype of objectification and that women are for viewing pleasure.

The last stereotype seen is Doja Cat and SZA kissing the body of the astronaut. He lays in a bed while they move all over him and the camera focuses on their lips touching his body. He is seen staring at them as they are wearing bikini styled clothing. This goes along with objectification and that women are to please men.

Counter Stereotypes

One counter stereotype can be seen in this music video. At the very end, Doja Cat and SZA are seen playing video games. While they are taking turns playing the video game, men are seen in the background in little test tube looking containers. This is usually seen as a male activity to participate in, so they are going against the gender stereotype. Also having men in the background for viewing pleasure goes against the gender stereotype that women are typically seen as being for viewing pleasure.
