The 17th song I will be looking at is “Right Now” off of the album Midnight Memories. This is a love song about wanting to be physically near ones partner.
Evaluating Masculinity
This song overall does not present any prominent male stereotypes. In fact, I would say it does the opposite. This song is packed with emotion and vulnerability, which is not considered stereotypically masculine.
“You know I can’t fight the feeling
And every night I feel it
Right now
I wish you were here with me”
This line is one of the ways that this song conveys love and emotion in general. There isn’t too much to say other than this song goes against the stereotype that men aren’t allowed to be emotional.
