Masculine Traits
- Hope is being very assertive and in charge of what Mel should do on the anniversary of her husband’s death. Hope thinks that she knows what is best for Mel since Hope herself has been widowed before.
- Jack confronts Ricky about how he is getting into bad decisions while he is hanging around Lizzie. He mentions that it seems Lizzie is not the best influence for him since he has stolen from the bar, gotten in a car accident, and lied to his grandma only in the short time he has been hanging around Lizzie.
- Connie show assertiveness when she is talking to Preacher about what they will do if the police question him about the body that was found in the woods. She tells him that he needs to have a plan and to deny that it was him.
Feminine Traits
- Doc shows sensitivity to others when he talks with Mel about how she is doing on the anniversary day of her husband’s death. He wants to make sure she is cared for and is taking care of herself.
- Mel shows tenderness when she connects to Charmaine by sharing about her stillbirth. She makes herself vulnerable so that Charmaine can truly see that Mel is only acting and suggesting the safest form of delivery for Charmaine’s twins.
- Jack is showing kindness to Mel when he is making sure that she is okay. He knows that this is a hard day for her and he wants to acknowledge that and show her support.
