Season 2, Episode 4, BoJack Horseman: “After the Party”
Bechdel Test: Pass or Fail?
- Are there at least TWO women?
- Diane
- Princess Carolyn
- Wanda
- Do they talk to each other?
- Yes, briefly
- Do they talk about something other than a man?
- Nope :/
Why did it Pass/Fail?
- This episode also fails, but just barely. Wanda and Diane talk to each other for like a minute, but only about whether or not a male celebrity is dead or not.
Other themes noticed:
- Diane took Mr. Peanutbutter to some kind of female-led conference relating to gender in text and media for her birthday, and Diane seemed to be surprised that Mr. Peanutbutter enjoyed himself when they were there.
- Keven was offended by being called a cowboy; he said he would rather have been called a cow-man. Kind of related to hyper-masculinity– cowboy isn’t “masculine” enough.
- Diane worried about how old she was constantly in this episode. Is there a correlation to worrying about age and gender?
