In 2018 Time magazine chose a group of journalists for various covers of Person of the Year.

These journalists were attacked, arrested and ever killed for investigating the massacre of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, with the most influencial murder being Jamal Khashoggi.

In the cover we can see journalist Maria Ressa, who appears portrayed in a mix of femenine and masculine features. She partially visible, with a black and white filter, that gives the picture a more masculine look. Maria is looking the the side, which is common for femenine covers, and is also shown smiling, which is more common when trying to give a confroting look, popular with femenine features. Similar style to the recent Obama cover.
