The media I will be analyzing is the movie Pride and Prejudice. In this post I will be outlining the stereotypical gender roles given to us by the sex role perspective portrayed in the film.
- Women are seen as objects that are judged based on their appearance
- The women have no rights
- Women are supposed to be shy, passive and submissive.
- Men are expected to be tough, aggressive, dominant and self-confident
- The women are seen treating other women unequally based upon their appearance, manners, and skills
- If a woman arrived at a party under or overdressed she would be mocked and ridiculed for days by other women
