CHARACTERISTIC OF A COUNTRY SONG sung by a man
- Women
- Love
- Drinking
OVERVIEW
Sung by Cole Swindell also featuring by Dierks Bentley. He is talking about a girl who is super attractive. She walks in and every guy’s heart then stops “flatline”. Some may view these lyrics as using her as an object because she is so attractive, she is not being treated as a person. No one is getting to know her as a person just that they are talking about her body. I will be using a Sex-Role Theory to find femininity characteristics through the song.
Femininity examples throughout the song
Affectionate
“Dang, girl, look at you; Stopping me in my boots” As soon as she walks in everyone must stop and stare at least he believes that she is the most beautiful person he has seen. This is very stereotypical for a man to be singing about in a country song.
Warm & Affectionate
“She’s a little heart stopper” Every guy probably looks at her and they heart spots. This lyric does sound a little objectifying as this draws attention to her beauty and not her as a person. This is very stereotypical for a country song.
Feminine
“Got the pretty turned up to eleven” She not just a ten she an eleven. Not your average girl, she’s truly something else.
