T-Mobile’s ad featured in the 2021 Super Bowl displays musical artists such as Gwen Stefani being represented in a way that resembles feminism. Specifically, she is chosen for a blind date with artist Blake Shelton because he is seen as uncultured and afraid of a strong independent woman such as Gwen. While she may be just playing a role to create a joke at Blake’s expense, because she is so well known, viewers of this ad are likely to positively respond to her message and how she is represented regardless of their opinions on feministic qualities. This is primarily attributed to the pre-existing Parasocial Interaction.
