CHARACTERISTIC OF A COUNTRY SONG sung by a man

  • Women
  • Love
  • Drinking

OVERVIEW

Sung by Thomas Rhett. This song is about how he met his wife. Thomas Rhett met his wife at a very young age and singing about his wife and their love story has made him very popular. A lot of his songs have become top hits because you can tell the love is there. This song is telling the story of the first night they met and how he will always remember every detail of that night, including what she was wearing and drinking. I will be using the Sex-Role Theory to find the femininity trait examples throughout the song.

Femininity examples throughout the song

            Affectionate

“Girl, that night was just like you; unforgettable” He is praising her for how she looks, which can be seen as a negative as he is objectifying her. In reality, though is taking her in and remembering everything about her and saying that she is so beautiful and he loves her.

            Loyal

“Whoa, I told you I was gonna marry you” After just spending a little bit with this woman he already knows that he is going to marry her one day. This shows the loyal that he has for her and she doesn’t have to worry about him going off with someone else.

            Compassionate & Tender

“You took my hand and we pretended; Like I was your guy” She wasn’t comfortable in the situation at the bar so she grabbed him for safety. This is very typical for women at bars or clubs. He acted as knowing her for years.
