Does this episode of Avatar the Last Airbender pass the Bechdel Test?

Are there women in the episode:

  • Katara
  • Mai
  • Ty Lee
  • Azula
  • Toph

Do the women talk to each other:

  • Mai, Ty Lee, and Azula talk to each other

Do they talk about something other than men:

  • Mai, Ty Lee, and Azula are talking about how they have a perfect opportunity to take control of Ba Sing Se for the Fire Nation, which has been a problem for the Fire Nation during this 100 year war

This episode does pass the Bechdel Test and we once again see the recurring names of common main female characters in this show. Plus it is nice to see that they are talking about something else besides men in the show and most of the talking between named female characters were with Ty Lee, Azula, and Mai. They were talking about the opportunity to capture Ba Sing Se from the inside and have a glorious victory for the Fire Nation. They knew that they needed help from the Dai Le to do this, so they made some good plans to get them onto their side so that they can get them to work for their goals. This sounds a lot like traits that you would normally see in males and not so much in females, which makes this show even more amazing that they will do that with their characters.
