Does this episode of Avatar the Last Airbender pass the Bechdel Test?

Are there women in the episode:

  • Katara
  • Suki
  • Toph
  • Azula

Do the women talk to each other:

  • Katara, Toph, and Suki talk to each other

Do they talk about something other than men:

  • Katara, Toph, and Suki talk to each other about Aang

This episode was close to passing the Bechdel Test, but unfortunately it didn’t pass the last part of the test because the girls in Team Avatar were talking about how Aang needs more time to master firebending and earthbending before he takes on the Fire Lord. But this episode does have a theme of a dominating nation trying to keep down a weaker nation which in this case is the Fire Nation trying to destroy the hope of the Earth Kingdom. So the Fire Lord’s plan is to rain down fire onto the land and destroy any last hope that the Earth Kingdom has when Sozin’s Comet comes. Which makes any firebenders powers increase one hundred fold which means that the Fire Lord will win the war by himself since he is the most powerful firebender on the planet. Also, when the Fire Lord calls himself the Phoenix King and supreme ruler of the world, he gives the Fire Lord status off to his daughter, Azula, so that she can be the ruler of the Fire Nation when he is gone. Which is cool to see that there is a female that is in a position of power because in the past it is usually a male that is the Fire Lord. So to see a female be the Fire Lord is cool to see, even though both Azula and the Fire Lord are crazy and the main antagonists of the show
