This episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender fails the Bechdel Test by a lot even though they have at least two named women. This episode was mainly focused on Sokka and him finding his identity in being part of Team Avatar and what he is best at for the team. The episode starts with Team Avatar saving a town from a meteorite and Sokka couldn’t do anything to help them so he felt helpless. Luckily, there was a sword master in the village that was willing to teach him as well as help make Sokka a new sword that would fit who he really is or Sokka’s identity. After Sokka was done making his sword, his master told him that the sword is an extension of yourself and your identity, helping Sokka with realizing who he is and not wishing he was someone else. While Sokka doesn’t have bending abilities like the rest of the group, he now knows his identity when within the group as well as how he should carry himself forward. Someone who is a leader and a general.
