Sad, breakup song
In this commercial we see a female singing a sad type breakup song. When the casting crew asks her to change it she keeps singing in the slow sad tone she was singing in. This is the stereotypical idea that females always sing slow, sad, breakup songs and that is all they are capable of singing.
Dress
We see the female in this commercial dressed in that typical cute little black dress that females tend to wear. This is stereotypical for females to wear dresses that are cute and frilly.
Female Lead
The lead in this commercial is a female singing. Now a female being the lead is a big deal when males are usually the leads and the stars of commercials so a female being in the spotlight is super important.
Man Crying
In this commercial we see a man break down in tears over how moving her song is for him. Now this is something we never see in media is men crying over sappy songs like this one. It is very non-stereotypical of men to be crying however, we do see another female in the commercial ridicule him for crying which is playing into the stereotypical idea that men shouldn’t be crying.
