The Super Bowl ad for Dexcom, a service that allows for people with diabetes to monitor their glucose levels, features famed musician and actor Nick Jonas. There is an implicit meaning behind the message he is conveying that can be derived from the overall representation of the ad. Simply the company that is being advertised is aware of the fact that Nick himself is in fact a diabetic. Even if you weren’t aware of this, it becomes clear for viewers towards the end of the ad when he refers to it as managing his diabetes. Simply the underlying meaning within the message is derived from the representation.
