The ad for popular car buying service Vroom features a reflection of the social construct of what it means to be a man. To go a bit further, the ad features a man who is trying to negotiate properly by walking away from a deal for a bit before being tortured by the salesman to sign for the deal. Interestingly enough the idea of the man only being able to cave during negotiation when tortured is reflective of assertive qualities that make up what society has created through the process known as social rule theory. On a side note in regards to representations, the ad features only one woman and it is for less than a second, even for a short superbowl ad, this is highly unusual compared to the others analyzed.
